We are currently seeking an experienced, dependable, and motivated Railcar Repair Supervisor to join our Regina Shops team. This opportunity is ideal for a proven leader looking to grow their career within a stable organization that values safety, operational excellence, and employee development.
Shift Schedule
Regina Shops operates on a three-shift schedule:
Shift 1: Monday to Friday | 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Shift 2: Monday to Friday | 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
Shift 3: Monday to Thursday | 10:00 p.m. – 8:30 a.m.
The successful candidate will begin on Shift 1 for training and will transition to Shift 2 or Shift 3 based on operational requirements.
Job Summary
As the Railcar Repair Supervisor, you will foster a safe, productive, and positive workplace while leading unionized employees in daily repair operations. You will ensure safety, quality, productivity, and regulatory compliance while coaching employees and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Promote and model the company's culture, values, and commitment to safety.
- Lead Daily Management System (Tier 1 and Tier 2) activities to identify operational barriers and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Ensure employees understand plant KPIs and their impact on operational performance.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance management for direct reports.
- Assign work to meet production schedules and customer commitments.
- Ensure departmental safety, quality, productivity, and compliance objectives are achieved.
- Conduct probationary, 30-, 60-, and 90-day performance evaluations.
- Ensure employees maintain required certifications, including A11 and PPE safety training.
- Verify all repairs meet regulatory, customer, and company quality standards.
- Conduct hold-point inspections and monitor repair quality.
- Lead daily Toolbox Meetings and reinforce safe work practices.
- Manage employee attendance, coaching, and attendance point administration.
- Schedule labour resources to meet operational requirements.
- Monitor operator daily maintenance activities.
- Manage supply spending while minimizing waste.
- Prepare accurate labour reporting and supplemental repair documentation.
- Apply the Collective Bargaining Agreement consistently and fairly.
- Enforce company policies, shop rules, and contractual requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Competencies
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous supervisory experience in a railcar repair or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.· Experience working in a unionized environment.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Preferred:
- Railcar repair experience.
- Working knowledge of AAR and DOT railcar repair regulations.
- Familiarity with standards published by AAR, CGSB, DOT, BOE, FRA, and the Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Regulations.
- Experience leading Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement initiatives.

This position works in both indoor shop environments and outdoor conditions throughout the year. Employees should expect exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, fumes, heavy industrial equipment, and fluctuating temperatures.
