JOB OVERVIEW
The role of the Junior Sever is essential to the success of the restaurant. You are the support for servers and bartenders. Working closely with the Back of the House and Front of the House staff you will ensure food is run to the correct table and tables are cleared in a timely manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The role includes the following key duties:
Greet all guests and take beverage and food orders in a prompt and professional manner
- Assisting with Setup: You will help set up the dining and event space areas, arrange tables, and chairs, move furnitures, polishing glassware and necessary equipment before service begins. Your role is to ensure that the dining area is clean and presentable.
- Food and Beverage Service: During meal service, you will work alongside the wait staff to ensure that food and beverages are promptly delivered to the correct tables. Your responsibilities include carrying trays, serving dishes, refilling water glasses, brewing coffee and addressing any additional needs or requests from guests.
- Table Maintenance: Maintaining cleanliness and organization at tables is crucial. You will clear used plates, utensils, and glassware, and reset tables for new guests. Additionally, you may assist in cleaning spills or messes and ensure that condiments and other supplies are adequately stocked.
- Collaborating with the Team: You will be part of a larger team, collaborating with the waitstaff, kitchen staff, and other support personnel. Effective communication, assisting colleagues when needed, and maintaining a positive and cooperative work environment is essential.
- Assisting with other Duties: Depending on the establishment’s needs, you may be asked to help with various tasks, such as restocking supplies, organizing storage areas, or assisting with special events or functions.
In summary, your role as a Junior Server or Server Assistant is to provide support to the waitstaff and contribute to the smooth operation of the dining establishment. Your focus will be on delivering excellent customer service, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and working collaboratively with the team to ensure a positive dining experience for guests.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Communication skills are utilized for a significant amount of time when interacting with guests, wait staff, cooks, and supervisors.
- Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency.
- Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when taking orders, completing paperwork.

- Basic reading and writing. Food service experience with general knowledge of restaurant operations.
