Position Summary
The Retail Freight Associate is responsible for assisting with the efficient flow of merchandise and inventory within the store. This role includes receiving, processing, and stocking shipments of inventory. Your attention to detail will be key in ensuring that the store is stocked and well-organized.
Detailed Responsibilities
Freight and Inventory Management:
- Load and unload delivery vehicles using equipment
- Inspect and verify inventory (removing any broken or unsafe products
- Sorting, tagging, and labelling items as required
Customer Service:
- Direct customer inquiries to the appropriate floor staff
Stocking and Shelving:
- Stock shelves, bins, and racks with incoming merchandise
- Rotate stock, restock, and manage inventory levels to ensure there is a clear and inviting store layout
- Maintain a clean and organized store and work environment
- Assist with store opening and closing duties as required
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent would be preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of work or volunteer experience in a warehouse and/or retail environment
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of receiving and shipping
Abilities:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
- Ability to use good judgement and act with safety as a priority
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods of time
Personal Suitability:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
