As a writer at The Works, you’ll develop a range of messages and stories that help our clients achieve their strategic goals. That means you have excellent instincts and an ear for tone. Writing is your passion, but you also have promising editing chops. Whether writing or editing, you love to help others shine.

What will you be doing, specifically?
Showcasing The Works creative services – through well-written, creative marketing and communications materials
Copywriting – everything from short tweets to blogs to long reports
Collaborating with The Works writers, proofreaders, designers and account managers on a range of communications
Working with internal and external colleagues on messaging and identity development
Developing messages and stories that help clients achieve their strategic goals
Editing and proofreading support
Acting as a sounding board for creative staff; creating supporting rationale for creative concepts
Researching companies, industries and trends, and painting the “big picture” for your colleagues
Reviewing client materials; supporting the development of pagination and information architecture documents
Contributing smart and informative content for the Works blog, In Scope
Developing corporate presentations
What experience, special skills and personal traits do you absolutely need?
5–8 years writing experience – with a portfolio including both social and published material to back it up
A good understanding of advertising, branding, marketing and corporate communications
Editing skills
An ability to brainstorm on your own and in a group
Great research and presentation skills
Social media savvy
Time management know-how
Proficiency in MS Office and PowerPoint; knowledge of InDesign and InCopy a bonus
