The Server with L2 Grill is responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences during both morning and evening service periods. Through attentive, knowledgeable, and personalized service, this role supports the mission, vision, and values of Fantasyland Hotel while contributing to overall restaurant revenue and guest satisfaction.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greeting guests in a warm, professional, and timely manner.
- Present menus, describe features and daily specials, and provide knowledgeable recommendations.
- Accurately take food and beverage orders and ensure proper pacing of courses.
- Deliver food and beverages promptly and check back to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
- Present and process bill accurately in accordance with cash and credit handling procedures.
- Complete all opening duties including brewing coffee, setting up beverage stations, polishing cutlery, and preparing dining areas.
- Maintain breakfast stations (coffee, tea, juice, condiments, buffet items if applicable).
- Provide attentive beverage refills and efficient table turnover during high-volume morning periods.
- Communicate dietary restrictions and special requests clearly to kitchen staff.
- Complete side work and reset dining areas for subsequent service.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of dinner menu items, preparation methods, ingredients, and presentation.
- Provide wine, cocktails, and beverage recommendations that complement guests’ meals.
- Upsell appetizers, specialty drinks, desserts, and featured items.
- Coordinate multi-course meal service to ensure proper timing and guest flow.
- Prepare and maintain service stations throughout the evening shift.
- Perform closing duties including cash reconciliation, restocking, cleaning, and securing service areas.
- Ensure compliance with Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission regulations.
- Always Follow Safe Food Handling and sanitation standards.
- Promote daily hotel events, restaurant features, and special promotions.
- Assist with inventory monitoring and report shortages.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of three (3) years of serving experience in a full-service restaurant (hotel experience preferred).
- Experience in both high-volume breakfast service and evening dining service considered an asset.
- Strong wine and beverage knowledge; previous upselling experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain organized in fast-paced environments.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order entry and payment processing.
- Completion of ProServe certification or willingness to obtain required training.
- Knowledge of food safety standards.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift to 25 lbs.
- Flexible availability including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
