Data & Analytics Rotational New Graduate Program
Start Date: June 2022
Location: Toronto, Ontario
What can I expect from the program?
The Data & Analytics program is a 24-month rotational program that is designed to introduce recent grads to different parts of Scotiabank’s Analytics & Innovation and Data Office business lines. You will begin your journey by gaining a solid understanding of the Bank and will work closely with our program manager to customize your experience based on your technical skills, interest and our business needs. Depending on your passion you will get a deep dive in data engineering, data science, data analytics technical architecture and business. This program is not for the faint of heart, as our goal is to provide you with 5 years of training & work experience within an intense (and incredibly fun) 24 months.
Throughout the 24 months you will get to work in our offices across the GTA (this includes Scarborough and downtown Toronto). We are looking for individuals who don’t believe in geographical barriers and are willing to travel.
After successfully completing the program you will graduate into a role where you will be responsible for driving change and innovation for our customers and ultimately the world.
You are graduating in April 2022 or are a recent grad who dreams in code, and gets excited by continuous integration and deployment. You have a passion for problem solving and spend your free time creating solutions, and tinkering with new and old technologies. You thrive in a fast-paced ever-changing environment and need to be a part of something BIG. You love to learn and envision yourself working for an international organization that heavily invests in your future.
You have acquired basic knowledge in object-oriented programming, and database programming. You consider yourself an influencer that can translate business objectives into technical priorities. When you look back on your undergrad, you have fond memories of being involved in extracurricular activities such as hackathons or technology conferences. You speak Spanish, or have the willingness to learn. You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves to get things done!
More specifically, you have some or all of the following:
Strong technical skills with Python, Java, or Scala
Solid knowledge of SQL
Familiarity with Big Data ecosystem (Hadoop/Spark etc.), relational databases and/ or graph databases
Familiarity with Apache Spark, Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes, BI Tools (Tableau, PowerBI)
How do I apply?
For students, we believe evaluating you through relationships over resumes, and we are focused on learning about who you are and what you’re interested in to uncover your true potential. In short, we don’t believe resumes will provide us with an accurate depiction of what you’re truly about in order to properly assess your potential. Instead, we want to get to know YOU and hear about your experiences that have shaped you. We know… this might sound crazy but we do not want you to submit your resume. Instead, we ask that as part of your application, you complete the steps below:
1) Complete your PLUM Profile here
2) Take a screenshot of your completed PLUM profile.
3) Complete a very short one-way video interview by clicking here
4) When it prompts you to submit your resume, do not attach your resume! Instead, attach the screenshot of your PLUM profile under the "resume" section (step #2 above). Cover letters are optional – not required.
