The Process Operator II is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Fish Rendering Process, Salmon Silage, and Steam Plant systems to support the production of high-quality fish products. The role is accountable for monitoring and controlling process operations, operating production equipment, maintaining product quality standards, minimizing downtime, and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Wage: $37 Hourly
Possession of a TSBC 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate required.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Fish Rendering Process & Salmon Silage System Operations
- Operate and monitor rendering and silage processing systems to safely and efficiently produce finished products
- Control process parameters including product flow, temperatures, steam input, equipment loading, and production rates to achieve quality and production targets
- Operate and monitor processing equipment including cookers, dryers, centrifuges, evaporators, pumps, conveyors, separators, screens, tanks, and associated systems
- Monitor product quality, food safety requirements, and Critical Control Points (CCPs), performing required testing and documentation.
- Identify and respond to process upsets, equipment issues, and abnormal operating conditions to minimize downtime
- Complete production logs, inventory records, batch documentation, and quality testing reports accurately and on time
- Assist in receiving, transferring, loading, and handling raw fish, meal, silage, oil, and other plant products and materials as required.
Steam Plant Operations
- Operate, monitor, and maintain the steam plant & related equipment in accordance with Technical Safety BC regulations and plant operating procedures
- Perform boiler water testing and treatment activities as required
- May be required to perform the duties of Shift Engineer during periods of operational demand or personnel absence
- Complete shift logs and regulatory records required for boiler operation
- Participate in boiler start-up, shutdown, blowdown, and emergency response procedures
- Conduct routine inspections of boilers, steam systems, and auxiliary equipment to identify and report operating issues
- Maintain housekeeping standards within the boiler room and steam plant to support a safe working environment.
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of plant equipment and facilities in accordance with company standards and procedures
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, hoisting equipment, forklifts, and other mobile equipment as required
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping by keeping equipment, tools, and work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards
- Perform shift work based on company business needs which evolve and change in response to customer demands
- Work overtime as instructed to ensure minimal downtime of facilities
- Adhere to the company Code of Conduct and all West Coast Reduction Ltd. policies
- Foster a positive team and company culture by ensuring treatment of others is respectful and aligned with company values
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
- Possession of a TSBC 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate required.
- Ability to read or interpret diagrams, schematic drawings and manuals to determine work procedures
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve process related issues
- Experience in food processing, manufacturing, or related production environments considered an asset.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, with experience working with pumps, conveyors, centrifuges, and industrial process equipment, is considered a valuable asset
Functional Requirements
- Ability to frequently move, carry, lift, push and pull equipment up to 50 lbs without assistance and occasionally greater with assistance
- Perform repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing and reaching overhead above the shoulders daily
- Adaptable to adverse conditions including confined space, heights, cold weather, odours and exposure to animal by-products
