We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Pharmacist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for our patients. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care, excellent communication skills, Fillware experience, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret medication orders to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
- Prepare and dispense medications in accordance with legal, professional, and regulatory requirements.
- Use Fillware pharmacy software to process prescriptions, manage patient profiles, review medication histories, and support accurate dispensing.
- Provide patient counselling on medication use, side effects, interactions, and adherence.
- Administer vaccinations, including influenza and COVID-19 vaccines, and complete all required documentation.
- Assess patients for minor ailments and prescribe medications when appropriate within the pharmacist's scope of practice.
- Work confidently with compounded medications, including reviewing compounded prescriptions and providing appropriate patient counselling.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to support individualized medication therapy.
- Monitor patient outcomes and identify medication-related concerns when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, patient profiles, vaccinations, minor ailment assessments, and other professional services.
- Stay current with advancements in pharmacy practice and participate in continuing education.
Qualifications & Experience
- Licensed and in good standing as a Pharmacist in Ontario.
- Experience administering vaccinations, including influenza and COVID-19 vaccines.
- Comfortable and experienced with minor ailment assessment and prescribing.
- Comfortable working with and counselling patients on compounded medications.
- Fillware pharmacy software experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong foundation in patient care principles and medication therapy.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and ability to communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Strong knowledge of medication administration techniques and pharmacy practice standards.
- Excellent communication and patient counselling skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy community pharmacy environment.
