We are looking for an experienced Fleet Manager to join our team in Leduc. This is a senior role for a driven professional who wants to take full ownership of fleet operations across a growing, multi-division organization.

The Fleet Manager is accountable for the management of all company rolling stock, including owned assets, rental assets, trailers, motor vehicles, and mobile equipment. This includes fleet allocation, utilization, vendor performance, lifecycle decision-making, compliance, and cost management. The Fleet Manager partners closely with Business Unit leadership, Operations, Dispatch, Finance, and Safety to provide reliable fleet data and insights that support execution, cost discipline, asset readiness, and informed decision-making.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure fleet assets are available, reliable, and fit for purpose across Business Units
- Monitor fleet utilization and allocate or reassign fleet assets based on enterprise priorities, utilization thresholds, and operational demand, including initiating actions to address underutilized or idle assets
- Establish and maintain the rolling stock allocation framework, including asset availability status, utilization thresholds, rental approval requirements, redeployment rules, and escalation processes. Day-to-day equipment dispatching will be coordinated through Operations/Dispatch, with the Fleet Manager retaining accountability for asset utilization, fleet data accuracy, cost control, and enterprise-level reallocation decisions.
- Coordinate short-term rental fleet to support peak demand and surge requirements
- Monitor and control rental asset usage, ensuring rental assets are justified, approved, cost-effective, tracked, and returned when no longer required
- Liaise with Division GMs and Project Managers to ensure fleet requirements, constraints, and priorities are understood
- Drive optimization of owned vs. rented fleet through data-driven analysis
- Participate in vendor rate reviews, rental agreements, and maintenance service evaluations
- Monitor and report fleet operating costs, including maintenance, rentals, downtime, and damage, in order to establish cost-management strategies
- Define fleet lifecycle priorities including replacement, disposal, and standardization
- Ensure trailers are included in fleet tracking, inspection, maintenance, registration, insurance, utilization, and lifecycle planning processes
- Ensure fleet tracking and management systems are current, accurate, and effectively used, acting as the primary point of accountability for fleet data accuracy
- Ensure fleet maintenance programs are executed consistently and maintenance records are complete, accurate, and accessible
- Verify all insurance, registration, and permits are current and readily available
- Monitor corrective actions resulting from inspections, investigations, and deficiencies; report trends and non-conformance
- Maintain working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements (TDG, Transport Canada, etc.)
- Support and enforce driver accountability programs related to inspections, damage, incidents, and violations
- Partner with Divisional GM and Corporate Safety to analyze fleet-related incident trends and implement preventive measures
- Establish the selection, onboarding, and training process for drivers related to fleet policies and expectations
- Operate company owned motor vehicles and motorized equipment
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in supply chain or business administration is preferred
- 5 years of fleet and equipment management experience in industrial or field-based environments
- Experience monitoring and managing fleet costs, utilization metrics, and vendor spend
- Knowledge of provincial Health and Safety legislation, TDG, and Transport Canada regulations
- Possession of valid H 2 S Alive, CSO, First Aid and CPR are an asset
- Successfully complete drug and alcohol screening
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Office 365
- Valid driver’s license
