We are currently looking for a full-time Purchaser in Vaughan, Ontario, reporting to the Director of National Inventory Management.
Position Summary
Spicers is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchaser to join the National Procurement team. Reporting to the Director of National Inventory Management, the role involves managing product inventories across divisions using replenishment purchasing techniques. The Purchaser will handle a portfolio of vendors and a wide range of diversified products. This position offers opportunities for cross-functional collaboration, inventory optimization, and exposure to strategic sourcing initiatives – ideal for candidates looking to grow in procurement or supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of National Inventory Management, the duties and responsibilities of the Purchaser include, but are not limited to, the following:

Purchase products using best practices to maintain optimal inventory levels;

Evaluate product availability and determine the most cost-effective replenishment strategies

Manage forecasts and monitor the movement of specific product lines;

Oversee processes, systems, and inventory to ensure consistent and timely procurement.

Proactively manage supplier performance and resolve issues related to delivery, pricing, or quality

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with external suppliers;

Collaborate with other departments to achieve shared goals and objectives; and
-
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

Post-secondary degree or diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; SCMA designation considered an asset.

Demonstrated experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain management, or a related operational role.

Knowledge of the paper manufacturing, distribution, printing, sign and display, industrial supplies, or packaging industries is considered an asset.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word; experience with Infor Aplus ERP or equivalent distribution ERP systems is preferred.

Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Highly organized with effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Familiarity with, or interest in developing expertise in, inventory planning, forecasting, and vendor management
