The challenge? Helping our communities stay safely on the move. Our North America coastal practice and Burnaby office are growing. We are seeking an enthusiastic Intermediate Coastal Specialist who wants to deliver and seek out challenging projects that really make a difference to our coastal communities. You will join an established and thriving coastal practice and work on projects that will help protect our coastal communities, enhance our resilience to the effects of coastal flooding and climate change, and minimize impacts to the environment. Our coastal practice focuses on the design of coastal management features, numerical modeling studies, regional resiliency projects, port and waterfront development projects, and mitigating the impacts of climate change on our coastal communities for a range of public and private sector clients across the globe.
You will have the chance to support the delivery of our wide-ranging portfolio of coastal management projects and work as part of an integrated and forward-thinking team. As a key member of our growing coastal engineering practice you will be an integral part of our plan to continue expanding our business and help make Jacobs the industry-leader in regional coastal management services.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Perform coastal numerical modeling studies
Design of coastal management structures such as breakwaters, revetments, quay walls, as well as soft infrastructure such as living shorelines, beaches, and dunes. In addition, you will work with our port engineers to determine coastal loadings on various types of marine structures.
Assist and/or lead in the development of proposals involving coastal management structures, both domestically and internationally.
Assist and/or lead in the preparation of design drawings, technical memorandums, technical specifications, and design reports for the successful delivery of our coastal projects
Support in the technical delivery of large-scale coastal projects involving design and/or coastal modeling
Be responsible for the technical delivery of small to medium-scale coastal projects involving design and/or coastal modeling.
Work collaboratively with our coastal and marine structural engineers, project managers, and other technologists to further develop your professional career and knowledge while assisting in the successful delivery of our multi-disciplinary projects
Support our growing Ports & Maritime practice in the US Pacific Northwest and British Columbia
Here's what you'll need
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering discipline.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia, or eligibility to obtain registration within a reasonable timeframe.
At least 3 years of relevant coastal and marine Engineering experience.
Project management experience or project coordination responsibilities considered a strong asset.
Experience preparing engineering studies, design reports, specifications, and contract documents.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a team environment.

75,000.00
Posted Salary Range: Upper
90,000.00
The base salary range for this position is $75,000.00 to $90,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across British Columbia, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
