Position Summary:
The OR Booking Clerk provides clerical duties that are essential to the efficient patient flow in the department and to ensuring that the overall surgical booking requirements are met. The OR Booking Clerk accurately schedules/books patients for surgeries, procedures and examinations/appointments into the database following hospital and departmental guidelines and protocols. The OR Booking Clerk assists in the coordination of the efficient and effective operation of the department.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities:
- Medical Office Administration Program certificate and/or recent related medical office experience
- Recent Patient Registration experience
- Meditech Order Entry and PICIS Applications experience
- Intermediate computer skills with 45 wpm keyboarding
- Intermediate level computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook preferred
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Demonstrated organizational, time management and record keeping skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Attention to detail and proven ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced and ever-changing and high stress environment
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues and physicians
