Job Title: Senior Project Engineer
Reporting directly to Skeena’s Director, Construction and Engineering, the Senior Project Engineer will play a crucial role in leading multi-disciplinary engineering, procurement and construction activities in support of the Eskay Creek revitalization project. As the project completes the Detailed Engineering, the role will focus on both on and off-site infrastructure projects to support the EPCM of the new Process Plant and ancillary facilities.
Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
- Directs, assists, and supervises the EP consultants providing constant guidance and feedback on the Design intent to Skeena expectations.
- Holding the EP Consultants accountable to their deliverables from a schedule and cost mindset. Drives accountability to ensure earned value key criteria is within expectation.
- Able to assist in design, especially on earthworks and water/slurry pumping systems. An understanding of Mechanical Systems and Electrical design is an asset.
- Have a strong in-depth multi-disciplinary working knowledge as you guide engineering advancement towards the Skeena common goal.
- When working with EP consultants, ensures that Safety by Design and Constructability & Operability is fully understood and built into all aspects of the design and operations readiness lifecycle.
- Ensures that the Procurement and Contract Management process is within expectation.
- Ensures that Constructability and Operability is fully understood and built into all aspects of the design and operations readiness lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with environmental teams to ensure that water management practices meet environmental regulations and best practices, minimizing the project's impact on the surrounding ecosystem.
- All other duties as reasonably assigned.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering (preferably Civil) or equivalent.
- A Minimum of 5+ years of directly related Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) execution experience or equivalent combination of experience is required.
Proven field experience on Civil foundation construction, ideally 3+ years in the field.
- Mining experience is preferred, ideally in a New Build Construction environment.
- Designated Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in British Columbia or equivalent is required.
- Strong computer skills using MS office suite is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Has demonstrated strong leadership skills
- Able to lead and direct field construction crews with proven track record
- Must possess very strong attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently as needed.
Work Environment:
This role will be split between time spent at the Eskay Creek site and Vancouver Corporate office. A significant amount of time each month will be spent at site, and it is a requirement of this role.
This job requires the incumbent to be able to work away from home and to be able to travel to different work locations or events outside of regular office hours as well as traveling to Skeena’s remote project sites and collaborate with internal and external parties.
