Brukar Inc. is an Oakville-based supplier of precision metal components, including castings, forgings, machined parts, and sheet metal assemblies, sourced from manufacturing partners in India, China, Taiwan, and Vietnam for OEM customers across North America and Europe. We're a small, close-knit team where an Accounting Clerk has real visibility into the business, not just a stack of invoices.
About the Role
We're looking for an entry-level Accounting Clerk to support the day-to-day accounting function, reporting to the Controller. This is a hands-on role covering accounts receivable posting, non-PO accounts payable, bank reconciliation, and document management. It's a good fit for someone early in their accounting career who wants to build full-cycle experience in a growing business.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily posting and application of customer payments to the AR subledger
- Full-cycle AP for non-PO purchases and expenses, including corporate credit card reconciliation
- Reconciliation of bank statements to the general ledger
- Journal entry processing for automated bank transactions
- Electronic document management and filing of AP/AR records
- Supporting month-end close tasks (accruals, account reconciliations) as assigned
- Responding to routine vendor and customer account inquiries
- Assisting with documentation requests for year-end audit
- Other accounting/administrative duties as assigned
Required Skills & Competencies
- Accurate and efficient data entry, with strong attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Technically savvy: proficient in Excel and SharePoint; QuickBooks experience preferred
- Comfortable learning new technology and using AI tools as part of daily workflow
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Ability to manage recurring deadlines (daily postings, month-end close) and work independently within a small finance team
- Discretion in handling confidential financial information
Assets (Nice to Have)
- Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or import/export environment
- Exposure to an ERP or accounting system beyond QuickBooks
- Currently pursuing a bookkeeping or accounting designation (CPA PEP, CPB, etc.)
