Avenue II is a community-based organization that proudly supports adults with disabilities to live independently in our community. We are currently recruiting for Casual Support Workers. Successful candidate(s) will be able to support adults with a disability to live an inclusionary lifestyle in conjunction with the concepts of the Mission of Avenue II "Total Inclusion Through People." They must be a team player with outstanding communication abilities. Their support strategies will encompass the principles of Gentle Teaching, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Dignity of Risk and Inclusion.
Requirements: Secondary Education, Developmental Service Worker Diploma, Social Services Worker, Child and Youth Worker, or a comparable mix of education and experience may be taken into account. It is essential to attach evidence of all degrees and diplomas with your application. Casual positions are expected to work flexible shifts that include weekdays, weekends and public (statutory) holiday coverage. Casuals employees may submit applications for internal positions after being hired.
Responsibilities
- Provide empathetic care to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their comfort and overall well-being.
- Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation, maintaining a safe living environment, and personal hygiene.
- Effectively communicate with clients and their families to comprehend their needs and preferences.
- Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, section 28 regarding worker responsibilities.
The ideal candidate must possess a valid driver's license with appropriate insurance as well as access to a dependable vehicle. Proof of vaccination, First Aid Certificate as well as a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are also required.
