About the Role:
We are looking for an Emergency Management & Business Continuity Advisor to lead and support the delivery and enhancement of emergency preparedness, business continuity, and organizational resilience programs for ATCO Energy Systems.
In this role, you will play an important part in ensuring teams are prepared to respond effectively to emergencies and business disruptions while supporting safe, reliable, and resilient operations.
What You’ll Do:
Lead and support the delivery and continuous improvement of emergency management, business continuity, and resilience programs
Conduct hazard, risk, vulnerability, and business impact analyses
Plan, coordinate, and support emergency exercises, including design, facilitation, and evaluation
Support emergency response activities, including participation in real incidents, which may involve extended or non-standard hours and travel as required
Provide guidance during incidents, including support with Incident Command System (ICS) processes and coordination efforts
Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies, and stakeholders to strengthen program effectiveness
Maintain and enhance emergency and continuity plans, tools, and documentation
Monitor performance, report on program effectiveness, and identify opportunities for improvement
Participate in working groups, incident teams, and industry forums as a program representative
What You Bring:
Diploma or degree in Emergency Management, Business Continuity, Public Safety, Risk Management, or a related field
5+ years of experience in emergency management, business continuity, or a related discipline (e.g., safety, risk, project management, or planning)
Familiarity with EMBR and GIS tools
Strong understanding of emergency management and business continuity principles and best practices
Experience supporting or responding to emergency or business continuity events
Experience facilitating training, exercises, or workshops
ICS instructor certification or additional ICS training is an asset
Professional certifications (e.g., ABCP, AEM, BCI or equivalent) is an asset
Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) 300 is an asset
