Site Superintendent
Kawartha Lakes Construction | Lakefield Area, Ontario
Full-Time, Permanent
Build Exceptional Spaces With a Team That Cares About How They Are Built
Kawartha Lakes Construction (KLC) is a custom residential construction company based in Lakefield, Ontario. We build and renovate exceptional spaces - homes, cottages, boathouses and accessory buildings – throughout the Kawarthas, working closely with our clients, trade partners, designers, consultants, and suppliers.
Our work is built around strong relationships, clear communication, quality craftsmanship, and doing what we say we will do.
We are looking for an experienced Site Superintendent to join our construction team.
The Role
The Site Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and coordination of KLC construction sites.
This is a hands-on construction leadership role for someone who understands high-quality custom residential construction, knows how to organize and coordinate a job site, and takes pride in delivering excellent work.
Working closely with the Project Developer, you will turn the project plan into effective field execution. You will coordinate KLC employees, trade partners, suppliers, materials, inspections, and daily site activities while maintaining KLC's expectations for safety, quality, schedule, organization, and professionalism.
Just as importantly, you will be expected to think ahead, anticipate issues, solve problems in the field, and keep work moving without sacrificing quality.
What You'll Be Responsible For
· Lead the day-to-day execution of assigned custom residential construction projects.
· Coordinate KLC employees, trade partners, suppliers, deliveries, inspections, materials, and site activities.
· Understand the project schedule and plan work ahead so the right people, information, materials, and equipment are available when required.
· Read and interpret drawings, specifications, selections, and project documentation and ensure work is completed in the correct sequence.
· Maintain KLC's standards for craftsmanship and quality, identifying and correcting issues as work progresses.
· Identify constructability issues, schedule risks, and field problems early and work with the Project Developer to resolve them.
· Maintain safe, organized, professional job sites that comply with applicable health and safety requirements.
· Build strong working relationships with trade partners while maintaining clear expectations for quality, schedule, and site standards.
· Communicate proactively with the Project Developer regarding progress, upcoming activities, decisions, risks, and issues requiring attention.
· Work collaboratively with Project Development, Design, Selections, and other KLC team members when questions or clarifications arise during construction.
· Protect the client's property and represent KLC professionally on every project.
· Act as the point of contact for the client during production
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who has developed strong construction judgement through meaningful experience in custom residential construction.
The successful candidate will typically have:
· A minimum of 10 years of construction experience, including significant experience in custom residential construction.
· Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, sequencing, materials, and building practices.
· Experience coordinating trades, suppliers, employees, inspections, and day-to-day site activities.
· Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
· A demonstrated commitment to quality workmanship and attention to detail.
· Strong planning, organization, and problem-solving skills.
· The ability to anticipate what is needed next and act before issues affect the project.
· Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to build productive working relationships.
· Sound judgement and the confidence to make appropriate field decisions while knowing when an issue needs to be escalated.
· A valid Ontario driver's licence.
What KLC Offers
· Full-time, permanent employment.
· Health and dental benefits.
· Company vehicle.
· The opportunity to work on distinctive custom homes and renovations throughout the Kawarthas.
· A collaborative team environment where experience, judgement, craftsmanship, and initiative are valued.
About You
You take pride in running a good job.
You notice the details, think ahead, and understand how one decision or delay affects everything that follows. You know when to solve a problem yourself and when to bring others into the conversation.
You can hold people accountable without damaging relationships. You understand that great construction depends on good planning, good communication, good people, and consistent follow-through.
Most importantly, you care about the quality of the work, the people you work with, and the experience we provide to our clients.
If that sounds like how you approach construction, we'd like to hear from you.
