Duties
- Safely operate and maintain the mobile butcher truck to ensure smooth daily operations across designated locations
- Humanely harvest and process animals on-site and bring them back to the shop for processing
- Prepare and cut meat according to customer specifications, adhering to food safety standards
- Handle all aspects of food preparation, including harvesting, skinning, splitting, deboning, and cutting meat products
- Maintain strict food handling procedures to ensure hygiene and safety compliance at all times
- Engage with customers professionally, providing product recommendations, answering questions, and delivering excellent customer service
- Manage inventory levels within the truck, restocking supplies as needed and tracking butcher records
- Follow all food safety regulations and sanitation protocols to guarantee high-quality standards are met consistently
- Must have a valid firearms license
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license
- Employment is conditional upon the successful completion of a criminal record check.
Skills
- Proven experience in the meat industry, particularly in slaughtering and/or meat cutting
- Strong knowledge of meat cutting techniques and food handling safety practices
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanour
- Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently in a mobile environment
- Familiarity with the beef-producing industry
- Previous slaughterhouse or butcher shop experience is highly desirable
- Good physical stamina for standing, lifting heavy loads, and working in a fast-paced setting
