SHIFT: Days – Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
STATUS: Full-Time, Permanent
Position Summary / Responsibilities
We are currently seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join a growing manufacturing team in Barrie, Ontario. This role is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machining and fabrication equipment while producing high-quality components to specification. The successful candidate will interpret blueprints, perform precision measurements, inspect completed parts, assist with inventory coordination, and support various fabrication processes within the department.
Key responsibilities include:
● Set up, inspect, and operate machine shop equipment including lathes, milling machines, saws, and CNC equipment.
● Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and CAD specifications.
● Manufacture, fit, and assemble machined components to required tolerances.
● Perform quality inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
● Compute dimensions, tolerances, and layouts for machining operations.
● Conduct machine trial runs and verify machine settings and accuracy.
● Report deviations from specifications and production requirements.
● Perform minor machine maintenance and troubleshooting as required.
● Track and coordinate inventory for the fabrication department.
● Support additional fabrication processes including punch press operations, fabric welding, belting, and composite fabrication.
● Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
Required Qualifications
● High School Diploma or equivalent.
● Previous hands-on experience operating machine tools and machining equipment.
● Strong understanding of machining principles, shop mathematics, and fabrication processes.
● Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
● Experience using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers.
● Proficient computer skills and experience working with ERP systems.
● Strong knowledge of health and safety practices related to machine shop operations.
● Excellent mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
● Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
● Post-secondary education in Machining or a related trade is considered an asset.
