Learner and Academic Services is focused on creating and supporting services and processes that enable and enrich SAIT’s student experience. Learner and Academic Services brings together academic development, delivery and quality assurance of learning systems while providing resources and services designed to help students reach their full academic potential. Through a diverse range of campus life activities and unique, flexible programming, Learner and Academic Services helps students succeed at SAIT.
You are a collaborative leader, passionate about faculty, staff and student success. You will report to the Associate Vice President (AVP), Learner and Academic Services and provide leadership and administrative support in day-to-day academic and operational decision-making for grant funded programs in the School as well as provide support for the continued growth, development of new grant-funded programs, as well as continuous improvements in academic quality.

We require someone with excellent communications and project management skills who is able to work independently and in a team environment. The ability to motivate a diverse team of Academic Chairs is essential with excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills.

Job Description

In consultation with the AVP, plan, organize, direct and control the academic and related activities of the core service instruction team to meet SAIT’s vision, mission and objectives.
Lead and manage appropriate responsibilities and authority to the Academic Chairs and managers, relating to activities such as curriculum development, program delivery and scholarly activity.
Maximize existing revenue generating activities to increase top line and profitability and seek new opportunities with development of new products to continue growth
Advocate for services and initiatives that support student success
Implement a course quality framework to ensure teaching and curriculum excellence
Manage the instructional environment and academic support resources by reducing or removing roadblocks from them to achieve goals.
Oversee and support the development and effective use of academic capital and operational budgets
Handle students’ issues and other conflicts escalated beyond the Academic Chairs.
Collaborate within the Learner and Academic Services and across SAIT to implement approved plans, accomplish goals and ensure a high level of student satisfaction and employee engagement.
Accountable for all key performance indicators with areas of responsibility
Qualifications

A masters or higher level degree in a relevant field
Management and teaching experience in a post-secondary institution
A demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective and engaging relationships with students, faculty, academic chairs, support staff, senior executives and industry representatives.
Excellent communications, project management, collaboration and team work skills; able to work independently and in a team environment.
Preference will be given to candidates with Academic Management and Leadership in a post-secondary environment.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience with curriculum development and delivery.
