The Logistics and Transportation Coordinator position is a permanent, full-time, position that reports to the Transportation Manager.
Transportation of material to and from RSR sites and customers
Source, quote, dispatch and track mobilization and demobilization of RSR scrap processing equipment between Alberta supplier locations and Richmond, BC.
Ability to meet shipping demand in circumstances of equipment shortages due to simultaneous demand, and ability to prioritize
Collaboration with the Director of Transportation to maintain an up-to-date schedule of daily pickups
Coordinate all aspects of the delivery of processed scrap to customers which includes but is not limited to; supervising outside hauler truck schedules, scheduling barge placements, ordering rail cars, establishing shipping schedules with mills and maintaining and establishing freight rates.
Ensure all paperwork and forms required for outbound shipments are prepared accurately and in a timely manner (liaison with operational staff, supervision of transport, supervisors, dispatchers, and clerical staff).
Work closely with Brokers / Traders and Yard Management to ensure transportation requirements are met in a timely and cost efficient manner.
Meet and work with appropriate vendors and customers to resolve transport issues and / or promote the Company’s best interests.
Continually review all existing company transport assets for outbound shipments for best use. Effect change as required.
Work with Transportation Manager to facilitate rail negotiations and rates.
Manage rail car fleet through either internal and / or external resources.
Other duties as assigned.
Preference given to recent university graduates, with a strong customer service background.
Undergraduate Degree or diploma in Business, Logistics or similar field. Related experience, training, education or some combination of all three may be considered.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Must be computer literate and familiar with appropriate software programs. Ability to create visual aids for communication purposes. Proven skills in Microsoft Excel and Word software. Working knowledge of Windows XP, and MS Office Suite a plus.
Additionally, this position requires the ability to work under time pressure to meet deadlines and to be able to operate with minimal day-to-day direction, be able to work from general guidelines and be able to make the majority of decisions needed to successfully carry out assigned duties and projects.
Ability to work and cooperate with others to complete various talks with established deadlines. Strong oral and written communication skills.
