We are looking for an experienced Senior Accounting Manager to lead core financial operations and strengthen reporting accuracy for our GTA team. This role will oversee key accounting activities, support disciplined budgeting and payroll practices, and help improve the effectiveness of day-to-day financial processes. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, sound technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to work confidently across multiple financial systems.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Lead full month-end and year-end close across retail entities
- Establish structured close timelines and deliverables
- Review journal entries, accruals, intercompany transactions, and reconciliations
- Ensure balance sheet integrity and maintain organized supporting schedules
- Prepare for year-end close and support tax filings
- Identify and resolve discrepancies proactively
- Record and support accounting for M& A transactions
- Prepare purchase price allocation entries and related working papers
- Ensure proper recording of acquired assets, liabilities, goodwill, and adjustments
- Integrate newly acquired entities into the close process and control environment
- Oversee inventory accounting, reconciliation, shrinkage analysis, and adjustments
- Strengthen controls around inventory movements and store-level variances
- Prepare and analyze management reporting packages (P& L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes across portfolio companies
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement system enhancements
- Monitor operating expenses and enforce disciplined cost controls
- Oversee cash management processes across retail locations
- Maintain short-term cash forecasting and liquidity monitoring
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals
- Set clear expectations for accuracy, timeliness, and accountability
- Collaborate with executives, portfolio company management, and external advisors
- Act as a trusted finance partner and business advisor
- Proven experience in a senior-level accounting or accounting management position with responsibility for team oversight.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business; CPA designation strongly preferred
- 8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Proven expertise managing full-cycle month-end close in a multi-entity environment
- Experience recording and supporting M& A transactions preferred
- Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, retail financial controls, and cash management
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational ability
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
