Manufacturing Engineering Technologists/Technicians are key parts of our manufacturing process. They are responsible for the processing and implementation of product design releases to meet quality, timing, cost and safety objectives with a focus on manufacturability of a product. They are the main resource for troubleshooting manufacturing issues.
We are looking for a well rounded ME. Preference will be given to those with experience in electrical troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Process engineering releases to ensure a cost effective, timely, reliable and safe product introduction. Create required manufacturing documentation
- Develop shop floor work instructions; including method outline sheets (assembly, welding and paint), job hazard analysis and safe work procedures
- Conduct product structure and product cost evaluations
- Determine tooling requirements and arrange for tooling development; including holding, lifting, welding and painting fixtures, primary tooling, transport racking, etc. Create tooling drawings when required
- May complete time study analysis for process improvement initiatives
- Monitor new product launches and track/coordinate product/process improvement actions (CCS process)
- Create cost justifications for new facilities and equipment
- Liaison with other departments (purchasing, quality, maintenance, production, etc) to ensure timely implementation of engineering releases
- Review/initiate deviation requests
- Coordinate tool room and outside tooling suppliers’ activities to ensure a timely implementation of product releases. Coordinate tool prove out
- Support safety and health initiatives through improvements to facilities, processes and tooling
- Maintain records and prepare reports related to responsibilities and duties
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Manufacturing Technologist program or Degree is preferred or proven related experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of practical shop floor experience
- Thorough understanding of shop floor processes/procedures
- Good computer skills; knowledge of Excel and Word programs, CAD and Inventor software
- Experience utilizing CAD software for designing or revising tooling requirements
- Good mechanical knowledge and understanding
- Troubleshooting of electrical systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact with many departments
- Strong problem solving abilities
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Familiar with BOM/product structuring
- Strong problem solving abilities
- Experience with ISO 9000 certification
- Ability to handle day to day production pressures
- Capable of sustained physical effort while working with light and medium weight components
