Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Store Manager to lead our retail team and oversee daily store operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with a proven track record in retail management. This role involves managing staff, ensuring excellent customer service, and driving sales growth through effective merchandising, marketing, and team development and experience in recruiting and budgeting are highly valued to support our diverse customer base and operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise store staff, including hiring and training, and developing team members to ensure high performance and excellent customer service.
- Manage daily store operations, including merchandising, pricing, inventory purchasing, and POS transactions to maximize sales and profitability.
- Oversee cash handling procedures, cashiering activities, and bookkeeping tasks to maintain financial accuracy.
- Monitor sales metrics and prepare reports to evaluate store performance; adjust strategies accordingly. Ensure proper filling of HST and other government taxes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and legal regulations. Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Utilize organizational skills to coordinate promotional events, manage stock levels, and oversee store cleanliness and safety.
Experience
- Proven supervisory or managerial experience in retail or related fields
- Strong background in retail sales, store management, or sales management roles
- Demonstrated skills in merchandising, marketing, budgeting, and training & development
- Experience with POS systems, cash handling procedures, and administrative tasks such as bookkeeping
- Multilingual abilities or bilingual proficiency are a plus for serving diverse customer bases
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Effective leadership qualities with the ability to motivate teams and foster a positive work environment
- Strong communication skills for interviewing staff, conducting training sessions, and engaging with customers
- Experience and education High school diploma is a prerequisite. Minimum of 5 years experience in retail/wholesale sales management or store supervision with demonstrated success in team management. Proficiency with POS systems, cash handling procedures, bookkeeping, and administrative tasks.
- Training on an OLG terminal will be required to get the Smart-Serve certification from the “Alcohol and Gaming Commission”. Excellent communication skills in English. Experience with recruiting, interviewing, training & development of staff.
- Skills in negotiation, purchasing, budgeting, and sales management are highly desirable. Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate teams and manage multiple priorities effectively. Organizational skills and time management are essential for success in this role.
