**The successful candidate MUST be fluent in both English and French**

In this role, you will:
Report to the Team Leader, National Subrogation Unit, and are responsible for overseeing files in litigation and large complex commercial, property and automobile claims.
Provide settlement authority and liaise with our litigation partners, providing direction to maximize the recovery potential of files.
Increase subrogation awareness including providing support to claims departments across Canada and the Subrogation Team.
Your Responsibilities

Investigate the subrogation potential and, negotiate and settle complex property, commercial and automobile losses
Conducting settlement analysis, which includes reviewing the file and screen notes, understanding the strengths, weaknesses and exposures, translating the analysis into a settlement proposal and developing a recommendation to negotiate a successful subrogation recovery
Formulating future handling strategies in conjunction with legal counsel, which includes reviewing case law, identifying issues and concerns in relation to potential subrogation recovery and determining how best to proceed to bring file to early resolution
Setting budgets and reserves for files in litigation and reviewing legal budgets and invoices for accuracy
Provide education and training for the Subrogation Unit and claims offices across Canada to increase subrogation awareness and potential
Attend mediations and legal proceedings as required
Participate in large loss file consultations to provide guidance and direction for the file handler and liaise with other departments when needed
Oversee subrogation claims file investigation on CAT losses or class action lawsuits
Your Skills and Experience

University degree in any discipline, 2-year college diploma from a provincially recognized and funded community college, or fully completed CIP designation
Minimum 5 -10 years of property and commercial claims handling
Experience with mediation, arbitration and litigation is required
Proficient in MS Office and strong computer skills
Must be fluently bilingual in French and English
