Position Summary
- Support in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
- Engage children in meaningful, engaging, and developmentally appropriate activities in collaboration with other daycare staff
- Use of a positive behaviour approach to support children in the centre
- Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
- Assist with eating, dressing and toileting, and sleep routines
- Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
- Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
- Attend staff meetings to discuss children’s progress and areas of challenge
- Participate in professional development opportunities as provided by the centre
- May assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records as needed
- Maintain a positive attitude and act as a role model for all staff and children (e.g., model respectful behaviour and language, ethical decision making, enthusiasm and passion for the role you hold at the centre, and a playful and caring approach to child care)
- Promote and facilitate the curiosity and exploration of all children

Qualifications
- Completion of secondary school is required.
- Experience in child care is required.
- Completion of an early childhood education assistant certificate program or post-secondary courses in early childhood education may be required.
- Alberta Early Childhood Educator Licensing level 1, 2, or 3 is required
- Must possess valid CPR and First Aid certification
- Criminal record check and vulnerable sector check must be completed
- Must have Food Handling Certificate or be willing to obtain within first month of employment
- The applicant must be capable of lifting and/or pushing up to 45 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with children who present with diverse learning needs
- 3 or more years of experience in an early childhood education setting
Wage
Starting wage will be determined based on a consideration of the following:
- Education
- Formal experience in childcare settings
- Experience working with children with developmental delays
Benefits
A benefits package is provided for all full time staff following their three month probationary period
