Our team:
Ottawa Festivals d’Ottawa, a not-for-profit member-based service organization is seeking a Communications Assistant for the summer . Funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program and reporting to the Director of Research and Communications, the student will have an opportunity to learn and collaborate while having a positive impact on the social and economic development of our industry.
The Opportunity:
- Attend events, showcase event highlights, and share experiences through social media channels.
- Schedule, develop content plan, research stories and shot lists for on-site event coverage.
- Assist in the research, development and implementation of social media content and campaigns.
- Research, develop and create content to share industry stories and support industry recovery campaigns that will be delivered through various digital platforms such as podcasts, vlogs, blogs and social storytelling.
- Respond to emails, attend meetings, participate in discussions.
- Collaborate with team members in other related duties as required.
About You:
- Must be eligible to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs program:
- are between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and,
- have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Have college or university education in marketing, public relations, journalism, communications, or related field.
- Must have excellent, and proven, oral, and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Be detail oriented, motivated, self-managed, and reliable.
- Have the ability to work as part of a team as well as work with minimal supervision.
- Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends to attend events.
Nice to Have:
- Bilingualism is not a requirement however French is considered an asset
- Someone passionate about the festivals and arts community
