Responsibilities
As a Meat Wrapper, you'll play a crucial role in the presentation, freshness, and overall operation of our meat department. Your duties will include:
- Efficiently weighing, wrapping, labeling, and pricing various cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood according to company standards.
- Stocking and maintaining attractive, fully filled, and organized meat displays, ensuring proper product rotation (FIFO) and freshness.
- Greeting and assisting customers with their selections, answering questions cheerfully, and taking special orders.
- Checking product labels for accuracy, monitoring expiration dates, and ensuring only the highest quality products reach the display case.
- Adhering strictly to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations by keeping wrapping stations, scales, and counters spotlessly clean.
- Assisting Meat Cutters with counter setup, helping with inventory management, receiving orders, and performing other duties as assigned to support store operations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a grocery meat department, deli, or similar retail environment is an asset, but we are willing to train the right candidate!
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills for weighing, pricing, and inventory tracking.
- Strong understanding of (or willingness to learn) food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and comfortably lift/carry up to 40–50 lbs in a cold environment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
