BCIT Architectural & Structural Drafting Department is seeking a temporary, (0.20) Faculty to work within a progressive and innovative technology. Successful candidates must possess broad practical experience within the field of civil technology, with a specific expertise in Civil 3D, and will be expected to teach in the following course:

ASCT 1180 Structural Graphics: 10 weeks (March to May 2019) with nine student contact hours per week.

As the Instructor you will play the rewarding role of being the primary teaching professional in the classroom. You will be responsible for course preparation and delivery, typically a combination of lectures and applied lab assignments, and other course-related duties, such as marking and course record-keeping. Most importantly, you will work directly with students in the class room to support their learning, often by giving them practical assistance in their academic work.

Key Responsibilities include delivering quality, experience-based and hands on laboratory activities designed to prepare students for successful entry into the workplace.

Minimum Qualifications:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Technology Diploma or Certificate in technically related field (surveying, engineering, construction).
Minimum of 2 years of industry experience working in Civil 3D.
Minimum of 2 years of industry experience in the field of civil technology.
Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral forms.
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
Ability to integrate computer applications into teaching.
Proficiency in applied algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

Preferred Qualifications:DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
2+ years of experience in academic instruction in a post-secondary environment.
Innovative, flexible and positive teaching style and understanding the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
Professional experience with Software packages including AutoCAD, REVIT Structure, Tekla Structures.
Previous experience with an online course system (e.g., Blackboard).
