We are looking for an experienced Sr. SAP ABAP Developer – S/4HANA to join a Long-term Contract opportunity in Calgary, Alberta within the agriculture industry. This role will focus on building and supporting robust SAP solutions that improve performance, enable reliable integrations, and meet evolving business needs. The successful candidate will work closely with technical and functional partners to deliver scalable development work across S/4HANA, modern SAP services, and connected platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, enhance, and maintain SAP ABAP solutions in an S/4HANA environment, ensuring quality, reliability, and alignment with business objectives.
- Create technical components such as reports, interfaces, data conversions, enhancements, forms, and workflow-related developments to support operational needs.
- Design and optimize Core Data Services objects and database-driven logic to improve reporting, data modelling, and application performance.
- Build and support OData services used by SAP Fiori applications and external systems requiring secure data exchange.
- Partner with analysts, architects, functional specialists, and basis teams to deliver end-to-end technical solutions across integrated SAP landscapes.
- Troubleshoot defects, perform code reviews, and tune ABAP and database artifacts to strengthen system stability and efficiency.
- Develop and support integrations using technologies such as IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, APIs, and middleware tools.
- Implement technical enhancements through approved SAP extension methods while following development standards, security practices, and transport procedures.
- Contribute to testing, deployment preparation, technical documentation, and knowledge transfer to support ongoing delivery and support activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience, including strong exposure to S/4HANA environments.
- Proven expertise in ABAP development objects, Core Data Services, OData or SAP Gateway services, and SQL-based performance optimization.
- Experience building integrations across SAP and external platforms using interfaces, APIs, and related connectivity frameworks.
- Solid understanding of debugging, troubleshooting, code quality review, and secure development practices within SAP.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Experience working in collaborative delivery models such as Agile and supporting testing, defect resolution, and release activities.
