The Coordinator reports to the Director or designate and is responsible for leading projects, activities and best practice initiatives to strengthen perinatal and/or neonatal care across the province in order to promote healthy outcomes of pregnant women/individuals and newborns.

What you’ll do

Lead processes and planning care initiatives for designated portfolio populations in collaboration with provincial stakeholders; provide expert consultation on perinatal and/or neonatal care and delivery of education; develop, monitor, and evaluate resources for care providers; and participate in internal, local, provincial and national committees and projects.
Promote evidence-based, patient-centered practice and shares knowledge about current research and literature to advance the quality and consistency of provincial practice.
Scan the environment and the literature to identify emerging practice trends and support knowledge mobilization exchange though interdisciplinary local and provincial partnerships.
Lead and coordinate projects and committees including managing timelines, deliverables, and financial reporting.
Provide training, support and teaching toolkits for educational programs such as Fetal Health Surveillance or Neonatal Resuscitation and Stabilization instructors in BC.
Utilize a regional perspective to identify areas and opportunities for evidence-based education and improved health outcomes of pregnant women/individuals and newborns through networking, collaboration, and assessment of provider needs.
Establish opportunities to create partnerships and develop formal relationships with provincial stakeholders and partners to support the planning and implementation of provincial priorities.
Use creativity and problem solving to resolve issues with respect to competing priorities with an emphasis on facilitating productive relationships.
Support the development of clinical practice guidelines and practice support tools relevant to perinatal and/or neonatal care with consideration for the continuum from acute to community, in conjunction with clinical leadership and provincial partners as appropriate.
Participate in evaluations of outreach education initiatives.

What you bring

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Masters preferred, including relevant specialty training.
A minimum of five (5) years recent related experience.
Eligible or current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM); registration must be obtained prior to start date.
Demonstrated ability in leading change, inspiring and engaging other and promoting innovation.
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and participation and supportive of the learning of others.
Uses evidence based knowledge to guide practice.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels, across the health care system.
Flexibility to travel provincially and nationally.

Perinatal Care:
Five (5) years of perinatal experience
Current Fetal Health Surveillance instructor status is an asset
Demonstrated ability in developing education tools and documents with a focus on perinatal care
