Pegen Industries is a precision manufacturing company based in Stittsville, specializing in machining and sheet metal fabrication. We are looking for an HR Generalist to support our growing team and help strengthen our people practices across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training, compliance, and day-to-day HR support.
This role is well suited to someone who is organized, approachable, and comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment. We are looking for a practical HR professional who can build trust with employees and managers, follow through on details, and help create a more consistent and positive employee experience.

Job Type: Full Time Permanent - Stittsville, ON
Total Compensation: CAD $65,000 - $80,000 annually. Placement within range based on experience and qualifications.
Vacancy Status: Replacement hire for an existing position.
Job Summary
The HR Generalist supports daily HR operations across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll support, benefits administration, HR systems, compliance, training, and health & safety coordination. This role helps ensure HR processes are organized, compliant, and aligned with company and operational needs.
Position Objectives
- Support efficient and consistent HR operations across the organization
- Help attract, onboard, and retain employees aligned with company needs and culture
- Maintain accurate employee records, HR systems, and documentation
- Support payroll, benefits and employee administration processes
- Coordinate training, health & safety requirements, and apprenticeship programs
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, company policies, and workplace standards
- Provide professional and responsive HR support to employees and leadership
Key Responsibilities
1. Recruitment & Onboarding
- Coordinate recruitment activities including postings, screening, interviews, and candidate communication
- Prepare offer letters, onboarding packages, and employment documentation
- Coordinate onboarding, orientation, training assignments, and employee file setup
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
2. Employee Relations & HR Support
- Respond to employee questions related to HR policies, payroll, benefits, vacation, and workplace matters
- Support employee relations, performance management, and HR documentation
- Assist with employee engagement and culture initiatives
3. HR Administration & Compliance
- Manage and maintain the HRIS platform and employee data accuracy
- Maintain HR systems, files, reporting, and tracking
- Support compliance with Ontario employment legislation and company policies
- Track probationary periods, attendance, training, certifications, and employee records
- Assist with policy updates and HR process improvements
4. Payroll & Benefits
- Manage payroll including employee changes, hours, vacation tracking, and payroll documentation
- Process bi-weekly payroll
- Manage employee benefits administration including enrollments, changes, and employee communication
- Coordinate with payroll, benefit providers, and external vendors as required
5. Training & Health and Safety
- Coordinate onboarding, employee training, and development initiatives
- Organize and track health & safety training, certifications, and apprenticeship programs
- Maintain training and compliance records
Authority
- Access and maintain confidential employee and HR information
- Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, training, and HR administrative processes
- Make recommendations related to HR processes, employee administration, and compliance improvements
- Communicate directly with employees, leadership, payroll provide3rs, benefit providers, and external vendors regarding HR matters
- Escalate employee relations, policy, or compliance concerns to leadership as required

Experience & Key Skills
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or related field of study
- CHRP designation or working towards designation considered an asset
- 2+ years of HR or administrative experience preferred
- Knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and HR practices
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems considered an asset
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage confidential information professionally
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience coordinating health & safety training or apprenticeship programs
- Experience supporting recruitment and onboarding processes
Pay: $65,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
