BCAA's Information Services department is looking for a Regular Full-time Business Continuity Specialist to join their team. The Business Continuity Specialist role (“BCS”) is responsible for assisting with BCAA’s Business Continuity Management program (“BCM”) This covers the documentation, implementation, testing, training, communicating, and continual improvement of all aspects of the program.

The BCS is responsible for optimizing departmental awareness and adherence of BCM program in a manner consistent with organizational vision and values. The BCS will evolve and maintain the current plans and extend them to cover BCAA’s ever changing and increasing operations. Working closely and cross-functionally with all departments the BCS will develop cutting-edge awareness, training and exercise programs to ensure that effective business continuity plans are in place and tested.

Key Responsibilities:
Facilitating the evolution, maintenance and governance of the BCM will be the primary focus of the BCS.

Within the scope of the Business Continuity Program are the following plans and initiatives:
Emergency Preparedness
Risk Identification and Mitigation Plans
Incident Response Plans
Crisis Management Plans
Business Continuity Plans
Awareness and Testing Plans
The successful BCS will have an active role in the maintenance of these plans and be required to ensure the contents and associated documents are properly maintained, available and understood.

Strategic:
As a member of the Business Continuity Steering Committee the BCS will be accountable for the execution of initiatives associated with the BCM.
Facilitate training and awareness programs to ensure that employees are educated and prepared to execute their Business Continuity Plan when required. Training should be focused in the following areas:
Emergency Preparedness
Incident Response Team
Crisis Management Team
Business Unit or Location Specific Response Teams
Develop strategies, policies and standards and ensure their relevance with regularly scheduled reviews.
Partners with key stakeholder to identify appropriate solutions, make recommendations to achieve business strategies.

Governance:
In collaboration with employees at various locations within various business units the BCS will ensure that plans and documents are maintained to facilitate successful execution of the BCM Program.
Participate as the point of contact regarding annual audits associated with Business Continuity.
Advise of any regulatory or compliance updates that impacts BCAA or Business Continuity.
Assists the Manager, Enterprise Resilience and Supplier Integration with negotiations and contract administration

Operations:
Integration of Business Continuity into corporate operational processes to ensure organizational focus and a continuous state of readiness.
Perform regular Risk Assessments to identify vulnerabilities and advise on threat mitigations.
Working closely with all business units update and maintain Business Impact Analysis documentation to ensure alignment between the BCM and BCAA operational requirements.
Design and deliver regular table-top and real time exercises and assessments to validate and quantify BCAA’s state of preparation.
Provide regular status reports on departmental continuity plans and preparations to identify opportunities for improvement.
Carries out other related tasks and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
Demonstrated operations and organizational leadership ability, 3 – 5 years.
Strong program management, organizational influencing and time management skills.
Experience leading emergency response teams during significant, high stress or life-threatening situations.

Other Skills:
Knowledge of broader business operations (Finance, HR, Marketing, Audit, Sales, Operations Management).
Exceptional presentation, teaching and coaching skills.
Understanding of IT and Business Continuity regulatory and compliance requirements pertaining to Resiliency, Security and Risk.
Ability to work decisively both independently and with other team members.
Excellent written and oral skills - communicates clearly and efficiently to technical and non-technical teams.
Experience with deploying and maintaining complex equipment and technology.
Proven problem identification and solving capabilities.
Strong background in identifying and mitigating risk via Business Impact Analysis, Risk Assessment or HRVA techniques.
Demonstrated ability to meet aggressive deadlines and targets.
Proactive and pragmatic when dealing with issues and challenges.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and organizational skills – ability to develop solutions to complex problems.

Preferred:
Recognised Business Continuity or Resilience designation. MBCI, AMBCI, CBCI, ABCP, CBCP, Certificate in Emergency Management.
Candidates with Armed Forces, Law Enforcement and Emergency Management experience.
