Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety‑focused Driver Trainer / Safety Officer to support our team of haulage drivers operating on mine sites. This role is responsible for monitoring driver behavior, identifying risk factors, conducting training and ride‑alongs, and ensuring all company drivers meet the highest standards of safety and performance.
The ideal candidate is patient, detail‑oriented, confident in coaching others, and experienced in local hauling with truck & pup or live‑bottom belt trailers. This position plays a key role in reducing risk, improving driver habits, and supporting safe production levels across all sites.
Responsibilities
- Attend the mine sites to audit and monitor drivers’ speeds, driving behavior, and compliance with company safety standards using available data and reporting tools.
- Analyze driver performance data to identify unsafe habits, risk trends, and opportunities for improvement.
- New or first‑time drivers to assess skill level and readiness
- Existing drivers who require corrective coaching or retraining

- Complete reports and maintain compliant file storage of resources and employee data
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and feedback to drivers to improve safety, efficiency, and production levels.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a strong safety culture across all operations.
- Support incident investigations related to driver behavior when required
- Act as a liaison with the mine security and company management during incidents
- Ensure all training and documentation meets company and site‑specific safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Valid A/Z License (required)
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in local hauling with truck & pup or live‑bottom belt trailers
- Clean driving record with proven safe driving history
- Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain patient, professional, and supportive when training drivers of varying experience levels
- Computer skills are a requirement -Must be comfortable working with outlook, word, and excel. Experience with samsara or another alternative GPS system performance data, telematics, and reporting systems is an asset but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce clear, accurate written reports
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
- NORCAT and mine on‑site training will be provided if not already completed
