Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Long Haul Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting freight across long distances while ensuring the safety and timely delivery of goods. This role requires a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and compliance with all transportation regulations.
Duties
- Operate commercial vehicles to transport freight over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and fuel consumption as required by law.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.
- Handle loading and unloading of freight, utilizing forklift operation when necessary.
- Ensure proper securing of cargo to prevent damage during transit.
- Perform basic automotive repair and maintenance tasks as needed to keep the vehicle operational.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid CDL license.
- Strong knowledge of freight handling procedures and regulations.
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment, including forklifts, for loading and unloading cargo.
- Basic automotive repair skills to address minor vehicle issues on the road.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members and clients.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of responsibility for safety and compliance.
