What we’re looking for:
The Parts Shipper/Receiver is in charge of receiving all incoming parts. As stock comes in, they are to inspect for damage and correctness, and enter it into the system. They are also in charge of putting away all received inventory in its applicable locations. This position will also be involved with retail customer service inquires.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all items arriving to your area by courier have been inspected for damage and that any damages have been noted on the bill of lading. When needed, photos may be required, for proof of shipping damages. This should all happen in the presence of the shipping driver.
- Receive all incoming orders in a timely fashion, ensuring each part is either tagged with the correct customer’s name, cost code and price or the correct part number and retail. Stamp the date on all papers pertaining to the arrival of a product.
- Correctly tag product once they have arrived and ensure that it goes to its correct home, either on the sales floor, the holding area or to department that has requested the part.
- Inform the front counter of any items pertaining to them upon arrival, along with completing a current list of parts arriving which should be posted at the tech support window.
- Report any discrepancies or damages of incoming products to the purchasing agent. Give a detailed report of each item and have photos for each of the damages.
- Report “stale” purchase orders to the Purchasing Agent weekly.
- Keep a current list of all of the couriers including phone, cell and account numbers.
- Complete weekly inventory checks of all of the products found in the receiving area along with items found in the storage sheds. List all products, with part numbers and quantities to be ordered on the sheets provided by the Purchasing Agent.
- Inform Purchasing Agent of any discrepancies in pricing, counts, or condition of inventory.
- Complete random inventory spot checks on items, as time permits, making sure that the pricing and quantities match the inventory control system. Report any discrepancies to the Purchasing Agent.
- Inform the Tech Support personnel if you need to leave your workstation for any amount of time.
- Make sure your work area and the storage sheds are kept in a clean and organized manner.
- Inform Purchasing Agent of location changes or new part locations in your assigned areas.
- Be well versed in the job description of the Tech Support position, as you will be asked to cover this post when needed. Keep lines of communication open with Tech Support personnel so that the transition will be smooth.
- Report all corrections, concerns and irregular situations to management immediately.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
