Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement efficient production systems and procedures for employees in a metal fabrication environment.
- Analyze and determine the best production methods by reviewing production schedules, process flows and engineering specifications.
- Conduct studies and implement programs to optimize plant layout, workflow, utilization of machinery, materials and resources to ensure optimum inventory levels and efficiency.
- Liaison with engineering and production teams to improve and maintain effective production processes and sequencing.
- Resolve production issues, and recommend technical design or process changes to improve efficiency, quality or performance.
- Implement and maintain quality control systems and documents to ensure high quality standards of production are met.
- Develop and write technical manuals and specifications for production systems and procedures.
- Develop training programs, and train and coach production employees in job duties, health and safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Complete work in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management from time to time.
Essential Qualifications:
- Certified Engineering Technologist designation – or University degree in Process, Industrial, or Manufacturing – is required.
- 3+ years of experience in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of SolidWorks and Mastercam programming is an asset.
- Understanding of CNC machinery (milling, turning, waterjet), welding, and painting of sheet metal components is an asset.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills, with ability to conceptualize the full picture of designs, parts and assemblies.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate parametric parts and assemblies, and recommend improvements and best practices to mitigate the risks and prevent errors in future.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Able to work independently, and meet project deadlines.
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proficient in MS Office, especially with Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Policies and WHMIS.
- Physically fit.
