We are looking for a highly motivated SharePoint Architect to join our Information Management & Governance team in Toronto.

In this role you will have the opportunity to develop the strategy and frameworks to support, manage, and optimize Oxford’s data and information assets, while ensuring that it meets business needs - improving searchability, share-ability, availability, quality, and integrity. The SharePoint Architect will assist in developing priorities and objectives for data policies, standards, security and technology; plans, coordinates, and supervises complex data projects; designs and applies new methods and procedures for information and data architecture; and is a champion with key stakeholders to socialize architectural principles and concepts.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:
  • Defining Oxford’s information and data model/ architecture and developing a consolidated enterprise SharePoint architecture for shared digital information, structured and unstructured.
  • Developing and implementing information and data standards to align with long range strategic plans for maintaining, managing, archiving and purging digital assets in accordance with corporate policy.
  • Developing and maintaining architectural guidance documents and artifacts and models, practices and procedures.
  • Developing and updating policies, procedures and guidelines around the management of information within the organization and participating in the development and implementation of corporate practices as they relate to digital information and data.
  • Ensuring that IT and business stakeholders understand and adhere to architectural guidance, standards, policies, and practices.
  • Identifying implementation risks and analyzing potential impact to enterprise SharePoint architecture.
  • Understanding and documenting the business capabilities needed to deliver on the mission of the framework.
  • Participating in the development and maintenance of enterprise architecture plans to address the evolution of existing and new business information models.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships across the organization to determine information needs, ensuring superior customer service is being delivered.
  • Coordinating the development and establishment of information models for applications ensuring that data integrity and corporate information stability is not compromised.
  • Liaising, conferring, partnering or collaborating with external stakeholders, organizations and other government agencies, noting trends and best practices that may impact direction.
  • Recognizing and identifying potential areas where existing information security policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed.
  • Participating in the development of IT strategy and the identification and design of IT architectures to support the business and the business strategies.
  • Coordinating the relationship of SharePoint architecture to application systems to ensure that the application systems requirements conform with the information architecture strategy
  • Assisting other team members where required.
  • Supporting technology strategy, planning, and road mapping activities across IT and at the enterprise level.
  • Ensuring that within the scope of the area, ensure compliance with legislation and standards.
To succeed in this role, you have:
  • MA/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field.
  • Received training in systems analysis, systems design, information security
  • Relevant work experience of a minimum of six years in IT, Records and Content Management, Information Governance; with at least three (3) years in SharePoint Architecture.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information architecture and data administration and use of systems like O365, Content Server, Box, SQL
  • Knowledge of approaches to systems development, integration and implementation, API security, user experience design methodology, and change management
  • Ability to define and implement the enterprise level information model or architecture
  • Ability to identify and develop information standards
  • Ability to understand information requirements and to design appropriate data repositories and data movement processes in order to fulfill business needs.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills across all levels; ability to communicate complex technical concepts to all levels of the organization
  • Strong project management + time management skills
  • Knowledge of records and information management practices
