Job Summary
Sycamore Centre is seeking a Community Support Worker to join our team providing compassionate, person-centered support to individuals and families in Ingersoll, Ontario. As a frontline member of our team, you'll create a safe, welcoming, home-like environment while helping clients access resources, navigate services, and work toward greater stability and independence. This Christ-centred role plays a vital part in ensuring every client experiences dignity, compassion, and hope.
Responsibilities
- Welcome clients and foster a safe, respectful, home-like environment
- Build meaningful, trusting relationships with clients through consistent, non-judgmental support
- Conduct client intake interviews and complete required documentation accurately and confidentially
- Assess client needs and assist with accessing appropriate services and resources within the Centre and community
- Provide information, advocacy, referrals, and practical assistance based on individual circumstances
- Support clients in taking positive steps toward stability, personal growth, and independence
- Respond to crises and conflict using sound judgment and de-escalation techniques
- Maintain accurate daily reports and case notes while respecting confidentiality
- Support the Christ-centered culture of the Centre through words, actions, and daily interactions, including spiritual conversations and prayer with clients who are open and receptive
- Collaborate with community agencies and service providers to coordinate referrals
- Assist with food distribution, clothing support, hygiene services, and other practical assistance programs
- Support daily operation of the Centre, including maintaining a clean, organized environment
- Participate in staff meetings and ongoing training
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Social Service Work, Community Services, Human Services, Social Work, or related field is an asset — lived experience combined with relevant work or volunteer experience is also welcomed
- Experience working with individuals experiencing poverty, homelessness, mental health challenges, addictions, or complex life circumstances is an asset
- Demonstrated Christian faith and commitment to the mission and values of Sycamore Centre
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills
- Ability to build trust while maintaining healthy professional boundaries
- Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during crisis situations
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic record-keeping systems
- Current First Aid/CPR certification is an asset
- Valid driver's license is an asset
Details: Full-time/part-time based on organizational needs. Salary commensurate with experience. Flexible scheduling where applicable.
Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
