We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Co-op Student to join our Engineering team for two consecutive work terms (September–April). This is an excellent opportunity for a student looking to gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment while working alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects that directly support production and engineering operations.
The successful candidate will contribute to engineering documentation, product revisions, production support, and design activities while developing practical skills in mechanical design and manufacturing processes.
Mentorship
The successful candidate will receive direct supervision and mentorship from the Engineering Assistant Manager, providing ongoing guidance, technical support, and opportunities for professional development throughout both work terms.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), including updating and releasing new revision drawings.
- Create and modify SolidWorks drawings for in-house production and outsourced manufacturing.
- Provide drawing clarification and technical support to the production team.
- Prepare shop test checks and engineering documentation.
- Assist with mechanical component selection and evaluation.
- Review specification sheets for new and replacement components.
- Support production engineering activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve engineering and production issues.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a 4-year Mechanical Engineering degree program.
- Eligible for a co-op work term beginning in September.
- Completed second year or higher of the program.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of engineering principles.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and components.
- Technical Skills: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), SolidWorks, AutoCAD
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
