As one of the largest Hazardous Materials (HazMat) contractors in Canada, QM specializes in the safe and effective removal of a wide range of contaminants found in commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings. As a Site Supervisor you will be responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of hazardous materials abatement and demolition projects in Alberta. What you need for this position:
Minimum 8 years’ Supervisory experience in hazardous materials abatement (asbestos, lead, PCB’s) and demolition projects
Demonstrated leadership skills
Construction industry exposure / experience
Proficient verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of specifications and blueprints
Good understanding of codes, laws and other requirements
Knowledge of quality standards
Ability to determine, by inspection, that specification and requirements are met
Willingness to buy into QM’s corporate Health and Safety plan
Valid First Aid/CPR is an asset
Graduate from secondary school (grade 12) is an asset
Alberta Asbestos Worker Certificate
Transportation of Dangerous Goods
Minimum 8 years’ experience in a leadership role within the abatement industry
Demonstrated commitment to health and safety
Demonstrated leadership abilities
Of environmental legislation, standards, and guidelines
Of the Project Management Body of Knowledge published by the Project Management Institute
Of the engineering design, tender, and construction management processes and related contractual conditions for a variety of demolition and abatement technologies
Extensive knowledge of construction practice
Proficient computer skills
Ability to effectively communicate
Ability to work in a team environment with other Project Managers, Superintendents and Foreman
Ability to work under pressure
Problem solving skills
Read and understand drawings, contract plans and specifications
Effective interpersonal relations
What you will be doing
Coordinate activities on job sites. Communicate with Project Manager as to job progress and scope changes/problems
Follow QM’s Corporate Health and Safety Program, Policy and Procedures
Hold effective job kick-off meetings, daily tailgate meetings and weekly safety meetings
Daily tracking and reporting to the Project Manager of costs and ensuring cost effectiveness of procedures on a job site so that actual costs are at or below planned costs in the Control Estimate
Establish rates in conjunction with Project Manager to source competitive bids and materials
Management of project and operational cost control logs
Act as a liaison to identify issues, scope conflicts and project changes
Assign equipment, personnel, and subcontractor resources to satisfy project requirements in accordance with union agreements (if applicable)
Supervise all activities on site
Ensure safety is the number one priority on site
