Seed Production Technician – Temporary Contract
Hire Standard is recruiting reliable Seed Production Technicians for temporary contract positions with a local seed production facility.
This is a hands-on role supporting seed production, processing, warehousing and shipping operations. The work will vary throughout the season, so we are looking for people who are adaptable, dependable, and comfortable working in both agricultural and production environments.
Responsibilities:
Duties will vary depending on production needs and the time of year and may include:
- Receive, process and move seed and crop throughout the facility
- Assist with cleaning, sizing, treating, packaging and sampling seed
- Bag, label, tag, palletize and prepare product for storage or shipment
- Support shipping, receiving, warehousing and inventory management
- Enter inventory and production information into computer systems
- Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment when trained and authorized
- Assist with general cleaning, maintenance and other production-related duties
- Complete required safety, quality and inventory records
Requirements:
To be considered, candidates must:
- Have a High School Diploma
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and reliable transportation
- Be available and willing to work both morning and afternoon shifts; shifts typically rotate every two weeks
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable using computers, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Able to provide supervisory work references
- Able to work independently and adapt to changing production needs
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, wet, dry and dusty conditions
- Able to stand or sit for extended periods and climb or work in elevated areas
- Able to perform repetitive work and repetitive lifting of up to 50 lbs
- Agriculture, seed processing, production, manufacturing or warehouse experience is an asset
- Seed identification or grading experience is an asset
- Forklift experience is an asset, but training may be provided
