Position Overview
The Post-Harvest Manager is responsible for overseeing all post-harvest activities within a commercial cannabis greenhouse, ensuring cannabis is processed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with company SOPs, quality standards, and applicable Canadian cannabis regulations.
This position oversees the movement of harvested cannabis through harvesting, trimming, drying, curing, processing, sorting, quality control, and preparation for packaging or further production. The Post-Harvest Manager will lead the post-harvest team, monitor product quality, maintain accurate production records, and ensure consistent processes are followed throughout the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily post-harvest operations from harvest through drying, curing, trimming, and final product preparation.
- Develop and manage production schedules to ensure harvested material is processed efficiently and within required timelines.
- Monitor drying and curing conditions, including temperature, humidity, airflow, and moisture levels.
- Ensure cannabis is handled carefully to maintain quality, potency, appearance, and overall product integrity.
- Identify and address quality issues, processing delays, or inconsistencies.
- Oversee trimming, bucking, sorting, grading, and preparation of cannabis for packaging or further processing.
- Establish and maintain consistent quality standards for finished and semi-finished cannabis products.
- Conduct regular quality checks throughout the post-harvest process.
- Monitor moisture content, product appearance, weight, and other applicable quality parameters.
- Work closely with Cultivation and Quality teams to identify opportunities to improve crop quality and post-harvest results.
- Lead, train, schedule, and oversee post-harvest employees.
- Ensure employees follow SOPs, safety procedures, sanitation requirements, and proper cannabis handling practices.
- Monitor employee productivity and quality of work.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management as required.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained based on harvest and processing schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of harvested, processed, transferred, and completed cannabis material.
- Ensure all cannabis movements and inventory adjustments are accurately documented within required tracking systems.
- Monitor yields and processing losses and identify trends or variances.
- Maintain accurate production, drying, curing, trimming, and quality records.
- Assist with inventory reconciliation and regulatory audits.
- Ensure post-harvest rooms, equipment, tools, and work areas are clean, organized, and properly maintained.
- Oversee sanitation procedures to minimize contamination and maintain product quality.
- Identify equipment issues and coordinate repairs or preventative maintenance as required.
- Ensure employees properly use and maintain post-harvest equipment and tools.
- Ensure all post-harvest activities comply with applicable Health Canada regulations, cannabis legislation, company SOPs, GMP/GACP requirements where applicable, and workplace health and safety standards.
- Maintain appropriate security and access controls within post-harvest areas.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of cannabis and production materials.
- Support internal inspections, quality audits, and regulatory inspections as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in cannabis cultivation, post-harvest processing, greenhouse production, agriculture, or a related commercial production environment.
- Ability to speak Spanish is preferred
- Ability to speak Vietnamese is preferred
- Previous management or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cannabis harvesting, drying, curing, trimming, and post-harvest handling.
- Experience managing environmental conditions during drying and curing.
- Strong understanding of cannabis quality and product preservation.
- Experience with inventory tracking and production management systems.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Previous experience working in a Health Canada-licensed cannabis facility is an asset.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs as required.
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to work in controlled environmental conditions, including warm and humid areas.
- Ability to wear required PPE.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
