Job Summary
Social Awareness Worker Volunteer
Guru Shardha Welfare Charity is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and community-minded Social Awareness Worker Volunteer to support our mental health awareness, community education, prevention, and outreach initiatives.
The volunteer will help raise awareness about mental health and emotional wellbeing, reduce stigma, promote available community resources, and support awareness campaigns and educational activities for individuals, families, youth, and community members.
Key Responsibilities
- Support mental health awareness and community education campaigns.
- Assist with initiatives designed to reduce stigma around mental health and emotional wellbeing.
- Help organize and support awareness workshops, community events, and educational sessions.
- Share information about GSWC's mental health, wellness, youth, family, and community support programs.
- Assist with creating and distributing educational and awareness materials.
- Support community outreach activities and engage respectfully with community members.
- Help promote early awareness, prevention, and access to appropriate support and resources.
- Assist with social media and digital awareness campaigns.
- Support outreach initiatives related to youth, families, vulnerable individuals, and community wellbeing.
- Build positive relationships with community members and community organizations.
- Work collaboratively with staff and other volunteers.
- Maintain respectful, inclusive, and confidential communication.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Genuine interest in mental health, social wellbeing, community development, or social services.
- Compassionate, respectful, and non-judgmental approach.
- Comfortable communicating with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Good organizational and teamwork skills.
- Basic social media, content creation, or digital communication skills are an asset.
- Previous experience in community outreach, awareness campaigns, mental health, social services, or nonprofit work is an asset but not required.
