The Fort McMurray Recovery Centre (FMRC) is seeking a Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) for the nighttime rotation within our 28-day, bed-based addiction treatment program.The CCA provides overnight support to clients, maintaining a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment through regular rounds, monitoring client well-being, responding to client needs, and identifying and reporting changes in physical, emotional or behavioral presentation to the clinical team. The CCA supports clients experiencing withdrawal, sleep disruption, anxiety and other challenges associated with early recovery. The role also includes facilitating brief meditation and stretching programming early and later in the shift to support relaxation, wellness, sleep readiness and healthy coping. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong observation, communication and judgment skills, with the ability to work independently overnight while collaborating effectively with the multidisciplinary team. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Recovery Alberta currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Client Care Assistant, you will work as a team member with all staff assisting in the provision of supportive care to clients with addictions. Your primary duties include providing supportive care to clients, ensuring a safe and secure facility, responding to client requests, communicating effectively with other staff and contributing to a therapeutic environment through interaction with clients. As part of an interprofessional team, you will contribute to the delivery of residential services to persons with an addiction promoting client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life. You will support clients to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities. You will also work collaboratively with other health and service providers to maintain a safe and supportive environment.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Registration in good standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta is required. Candidates must be fit for work and able to remain awake, alert, present, and actively engaged while performing their duties for the duration of the scheduled overnight shift, excluding scheduled breaks. Strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills are required, including the ability to build positive relationships with clients, recognize and respond appropriately to changing client needs, and communicate concerns effectively to the clinical team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience facilitating meditation, stretching, wellness, or other recovery-oriented programming is an asset. Recent experience working in addiction treatment, residential care, withdrawal management, or with individuals experiencing substance use and/or concurrent mental health concerns is preferred.
