Job Summary
Bassano Farms Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Produce and Commodity Sales and Procurement Manager. The Produce and Commodity Sales and Procurement Manager oversees the purchasing and sales of fresh produce and commodity products. This role involves developing supplier networks, securing competitive pricing, managing inventory levels, analyzing market conditions, and maintaining strong customer relationships to maximize profitability while ensuring product quality and availability.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Management
- Source and purchase fresh produce, agricultural products, and commodities from growers, suppliers, and distributors.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, delivery schedules, and supply agreements.
- Evaluate supplier performance and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Monitor supply availability, seasonal trends, and market conditions.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Sales Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with wholesale, retail, foodservice, and industrial customers.
- Identify new business opportunities and expand customer accounts.
- Prepare sales forecasts and achieve revenue targets.
- Negotiate sales agreements and pricing structures.
- Coordinate with logistics and operations teams to ensure timely product delivery.
Market Analysis
- Track commodity market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply-demand conditions.
- Analyze market data to support purchasing and sales decisions.
- Develop strategies to mitigate risks related to price volatility and supply disruptions.
- Prepare reports on market performance, margins, and business opportunities.
Inventory and Logistics
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment activities.
- Collaborate with warehouse and transportation teams to optimize product flow.
- Minimize spoilage, waste, and inventory carrying costs.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of perishable products.
Financial Management
- Manage procurement and sales budgets.
- Monitor gross margins and profitability.
- Review contracts and financial terms to maximize returns.
- Support annual planning and forecasting processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Marketing, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in produce, commodity trading, procurement, or sales management.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Knowledge of agricultural markets, produce supply chains, and commodity pricing.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and relationship-building abilities.
