Description
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
Responsible for leading employees to ensure customer satisfaction by moving all shipments on time and without damage while enforcing company policies and procedures and adhering to regulatory policies.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
- Promote a safe work environment.
- Lead, educate and train the company's employees.
- Plan and communicate daily loads to ensure freight is delivered on time.
- Communicate with contract drivers and account managers, to ensure that the needs of the client and the company are met.
- Plan daily labor to ensure that the customer's freight is delivered and picked up on time and without damage.
- Communicate with dispatch at various service centers and dock employees to coordinate the movement of trailers and cargo.
- Coordinate the distribution of inbound and outbound loads to ensure compliance with departure times.
- Monitor and ensure that GA® and appointment shipments are delivered on time.
- Dispatch deliveries and pickups to ensure they are completed on time.
- Communicate with service centers throughout the online transportation process to ensure freight remains in cycle
- Monitor and analyze all opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency
- Perform administrative functions such as printing delivery receipts, manifest invoicing of cargo shipments, tracking shipments, etc.
- Report online transportation activity, including trailer cube percentage, trailer weight, delay times, etc.
- Monitor actual performance data and gather information for reporting
- Identify goods moving at incorrect
weight and classification• Ensure all OS&D exceptions are identified and handled correctly
- Assist other supervisors as needed
- Hold daily pre-shift meetings with reporting
- Implement company policies and comply with all applicable
laws and regulations• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company
policies/procedures• Perform other duties as required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or vocational diploma required
- Post-secondary education preferred;
- Bilingualism (English/French) an asset; required in Quebec
- Experience in the transportation industry is an asset.

- Must have extensive knowledge of the LTL industry, DOT
rules and regulations• Knowledge of load planning and dispatch; an asset
skills• Organizational skills, good time management and ability to multitask.

- Ability to interpret and understand company policies and procedures
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to hear at a level that would allow recognition of safety devices such as horns, emergency signals, and machinery in the potentially crowded work environment of a loading dock, trailer or truck and yard

REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Post-secondary diploma or two (2) years of work experience in a directly related field.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset; required in Quebec.
- Three (3) years of experience in the transportation industry, dock or warehouse work.
- Leadership experience.
- In-depth knowledge of the less-than-truckload (LTL) industry, as well as DOT rules and regulations.
- Ability to perform or learn the duties of a cargo handler.
- Valid forklift operator certificate
- Knowledge of load planning and dispatch of shipments.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and strong coaching, persuasion, collaboration and partnership skills with all levels of the organization.
- Professional oral and written communication skills and reading comprehension.
- Strong organizational, time management, analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent attention to detail.
- Good ability to manage conflicting and changing priorities.
- Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint and Outlook).
- Ability/willingness to learn new applications or new software, systems and equipment as required.
- Motivated to learn new skills.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $56,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
