Job Description:
Supervises and coordinates the activities of personnel engaged in research and experimental testing. Maintain lab operations. May investigate/troubleshoot complaints regarding lab services, equipment, and/or capabilities.

Duties: Manages the operation of the research laboratories. Assigns, checks, and monitors assignments of lab personnel. Maintains an adequate inventory of equipment, chemicals, and other materials. Estimates personnel needs to obtain lab and research objectives.

Supervision: Operates with considerable latitude for un-reviewed action. Reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of personnel.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage research projects in the lab, including personnel, protocols, budgeting, purchase orders and timeline
Manage operation of the lab, ensuring adequate inventory of equipment, chemicals, and other materials and maintain organization and cleanliness of lab
Responsible for weekly assembly of lab purchase of chemicals, lab consumables, etc. ensuring quotes are requested
Estimate personnel needs to obtain lab and research objectives. Liaison between lab members and sales representatives/technical support, requesting up to date information on techniques and products that will help complete experimental objectives
Conduct experimental studies for the completion of lab projects and collaborative projects with other research lab
process samples (blood, plasma, cell cultures and DNA) in a high throughput manner using epigenetic techniques for analysis using NGS
Coordinate inter-lab research collaborations, ensuring project progresses and is completed in an adequate timing
Clinical Samples and NGS data mangement and archive; handle receipt of data requests and distribution of NGS data. Maintain organization of data in the lab computing space
Lab safety officer, ensuring proper licenses/permits and training are obtained
management of instruments and shared facilities. Ensure all equipment is running properly, troubleshoot and handle repair of malfunctioning equipment
Participate in grant and publication preparation
Liaison between core facilities and lab members for service requests and troubleshooting; ensure service is conducted in a timely fashion, samples are prepared accordingly, and proper paperwork is completed.

Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelors' Degree in a health sciences field or equivalent, Masters Degree preferred
Minimum 3 years of related research experience
Hands on experience using various related laboratory techniques such as Next Generation Sequencing, cell culturing, DNA purification, and etc.
Ability to manage NGS data and clinical samples
Experience managing laboratories and research personnel
Past experience communicating and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders
Good attention to detail
Good work ethic and focus
Excellent problem recognition and problem-solving skills essential
Effective organizational, time management and prioritization skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as a team member
