Neighbourly Coffee is looking for a Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen operation and help drive the next stage of growth.
Our kitchen produces breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, sourdough bread, pastries, grab-and-go meals, catering orders, and wholesale products. Success in this role requires strong leadership, operational excellence, attention to detail, and a commitment to creating a positive team culture.
The Kitchen Manager is responsible for building and leading a cohesive team, maintaining high food and service standards, managing inventory and food costs, coordinating production, and ensuring every part of the operation runs smoothly.
Compensation
Salary: $56,000–$58,000 annually
Performance-Based Compensation: Up to an additional $8,000 per year based on achieving agreed-upon goals related to food cost management, revenue growth, catering and wholesale performance, team development, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
Hours & Schedule
- Kitchen operating hours are approximately 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Primarily weekday shifts
- Regular weekend availability is required, as weekend production, catering, special events, and operational oversight are critical parts of the role
- Flexibility to support the business during busy periods and key initiatives

- Recruit, train, coach, and develop kitchen staff

Kitchen Operations
Oversee the day-to-day execution of:
- Breakfast sandwich production
- Lunch sandwich production
- Sourdough bread program
- Pastry program
- Grab-and-go offerings
- Catering services
- Wholesale production
Ensure products are consistently prepared to standard and customers receive a high-quality experience every day.
Food Costing & Inventory Management
- Manage inventory and supplier ordering
- Monitor food costs and margins
- Establish and maintain par levels
- Minimize waste and identify opportunities for improvement
- Ensure products are produced efficiently and profitably
Menu & Product Development
- Maintain recipe standards and consistency
- Support the development of new menu items and specials
- Monitor customer feedback and make recommendations for improvement
- Ensure offerings remain fresh, relevant, and profitable
Administration & Coordination
- Create and manage staff schedules
- Coordinate catering orders and production plans
- Manage wholesale customer fulfillment
- Maintain production calendars and inventory systems
- Ensure food safety, cleanliness, and operational standards are consistently met
What We're Looking For Required Experience
- Experience leading and managing a team
- Experience building a positive workplace culture
- Experience managing food production in a commercial kitchen
- Experience with food costing, inventory management, and ordering
- Experience with scheduling and labour management
- Experience coordinating catering, production, or high-volume food service operations
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
Assets
- Experience with bread or sourdough production
- Experience with pastry production
- Experience working with wholesale customers
- Experience in café or bakery operations
- Experience managing multiple revenue streams within a food business
