Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Metal Shop General Laborer to join our manufacturing team. This role involves supporting various metal fabrication processes and ensuring the quality and safety of all operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with machining and fabrication tools, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of work. Responsibilities
- Assist with operation of CNC laser cutting, CNC milling machines, CNC lathe, plasma cutting, press brake machines, and other metal fabrication equipment.
- Support welding operations and assembly of metal components according to blueprints and specifications.
- Use hand tools, calipers, and other measuring devices for quality inspection and precision work.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical diagrams to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Operate forklifts and cranes safely for material handling and movement within the shop.
- Perform basic math calculations related to measurements, tolerances, and material quantities.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and perform routine maintenance as needed.
- Follow safety protocols at all times to prevent accidents or injuries during machining, welding, or material handling activities.
Qualifications
- Prior experience with CNC programming, CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, or machining is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of welding techniques and use of hand tools required.
- Ability to operate forklifts and cranes safely; certification preferred but not required.
- Mechanical knowledge including understanding of blueprint reading, calipers, press brake machines, CNC milling machines, CNC lathe, and other manufacturing equipment.
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations in fabrication processes.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality inspection standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment while adhering to safety guidelines.
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods during shifts.
